TRANSPLANT ENHANCEMENT

THE BEST WAY TO CONCEAL BALDING OR THINNING HAIR

What is Scalp Micropigmentation for a Transplant Enhancement?

We understand how hair loss can impact your confidence in everyday life. That's why we offer a specialized solution just for you: Scalp Micropigmentation.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP, hair tattoo, scalp tattoo) is a permanent, non-invasive and affordable way to conceal balding or thinning hair.

Ink is implanted into the skin with a medical grade tattooing micro needle in the form of tiny dots to achieve a realistic copy of your existing stubble or hair follicle that is unnoticeable to the eye as a tattoo. This technique will camouflage the effects of hair loss to create the illusion of a full head of hair which adds density and fullness to your look. When delivered by a highly skilled master artist, SMP looks completely natural and blends with your remaining hair and skin tone.

But SMP isn't just about creating a new look - it's about boosting your confidence and giving you back control over your appearance.

How does SMP work with a hair Transplant?

Hair transplants can be an effective treatment option for many people who are experiencing hair loss, but limitations in the results in many cases don't make this a complete hair loss solution. There is a limit to how close the grafts can be placed together, so in areas with heavy hair loss multiple transplant surgeries may be needed to achieve the desired result. The client may be limited by donor area and budget. It is considered an invasive surgery and has significant down time before results can be seen.

Transplant grafts are often over concentrated at the hair line leaving the crown area light exposing the scalp. Then if a clients hair loss continues to advance this can create an undesirable effect.

SMP can add density to the transplanted areas that are lacking, restore the appearance of a failed transplant and conceal or camouflage the transplant donor area scars.

Scalp Inked is highly experienced in this specialized area of Scalp Micropigmentation. If any of these issues resonate with you then SMP is the ideal solution for you.

Which should come first? A transplant or SMP?

SMP can only be conducted 9 months after the completion of a hair transplant to allow the newly implanted hairs to be at full growth and thriving, with the local inflammation to the skin settled and the surrounding tissue returned to full strength before manipulating it again with scalp micropigmentation.

Whilst the benefits of choosing to do SMP first are that you can apply density effect first so that the grafts appear thicker when they start growing at 3-4 months. SMP can also hide the redness that some scalps hold post transplantation which can be apparent for a few months following the procedure.

SMP can be conducted as close to 2 weeks before your transplant.

Considering everything I would still advise waiting until 9 months after a transplant before applying SMP. The result will be better long-term as the SMP won’t be manipulated by the hair transplant process, and it will be easier for the transplant surgeon to plant grafts into bright, natural-coloured skin rather than skin that has SMP.

Consultation

On the day of treatment Harry will carry out a comprehensive consultation with you as you commence your journey with Scalp Inked, talking through what is important to you and what desired results you are hoping to achieve.

I will work with you to create the perfect density and style. We select the most appropriate pigment color and shade for your skin and hair type for the most natural results

The SMP is measured and drawn on for your approval so before starting your SMP sessions you will know exactly what is achievable and what you should expect the end result to look like and no work will go ahead until everyone is happy and has a clear idea of the desired outcome!

We also provide full aftercare guidance to ensure you get the very best from your treatment.

The Treatment

SMP is conducted over 2-4 sessions with each session lasting from 2-4 hours dependent upon your amount of hair loss and each session must be at least 1-2 weeks apart.

Different pigment shades are used with each subsequent session resulting in the hyper-realistic appearance of the tattoo.

The First session will be the lightest of all of the pigment shades and it's conducted this way so that we can get a nice base shade for your look and to see how your skin heals the pigment. I like to call this my information session as we need to get as much information about your skin to give you the best result possible.

The Second and Third sessions we will be building on the first. Using all the information we've gathered I'll have a clear idea of how your skin has healed the pigment and which shade to pick next. We will generally go a darker shade and be filling in the spaces between the dots to achieve the desired density.

The Final Look

The final look for a Transplant Enhancement treatment with Scalp Inked is when the contrast between the empty or thinning Transplanted/natural hair and the scalp has been minimized achieving a more youthful fuller looking head of hair much like a Long Hair Density treatment.

Otherwise some clients choose to convert to a Shaven Look, dependent on a number of factors. If the transplant wasn't a success and didn't re-grow all of the transplanted hair or if the clients hair loss continues to advance.

Another viable option is to only get SMP in the donor area scarring.
